Watchung Library To Close For System Upgrade

All 10 Somerset County Library branches will be closed in Dec. 2, 3 and 4 for installation of the new checkout and catalog system.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — All 10 Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) branches, including Watchung , will be closed Dec. 2, 3, and 4 to allow for installation of the new checkout and catalog system.

The new checkout and catalog system will offer easier searching yielding more relevant results, innovative account management features, effortless integration with eBooks and eAudio, a librarian-curated kids catalog, and an intuitive layout and user experience.

The new system will include self-service options such as paying fines online, updating account information, and sharing reading lists or saved searches with friends, according to Rich Loomis, digital services manager.

It will also alert users in advance when a library card needs renewing and holds can be frozen or suspended for a specific period of time such as if you went on vacation.

Despite the closure, the library's eBook and eAudiobook collection will still be available throuhg somerset.overdrive.com.

SCLSNJ branches include:

  • Bridgewater,
  • Bound Brook,
  • Hillsborough,
  • Manville,
  • North Plainfield,
  • Peapack & Gladstone,
  • Rocky Hill at Mary Jacobs Memorial Library,
  • Somerville,
  • Warren Township,
  • Watchung,
  • And two reading stations in Branchburg and Washington Valley.
