Watchung Woman Arrested For Heroin Possession In Scotch Plains

A Scotch Plains man was also arrested for spitting on an officer following a car burglary investigation, according to the police blotter.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A Watchung woman was arrested for heroin in Scotch Plains following a traffic stop, police report.

Jennifer L. DeFeo, 37, of Watchung was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia as well as had an active warrant out of the Union County Sheriff’s Department on Sept. 16.

DeFeo was then transported to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 1: A resident of Laurie Court reported unauthorized charges on her credit card. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 1: Fen Zhu Yao, 40 of Scotch Plains, was arrested and charged with simple assault during a disturbance at Osaka restaurant located at 427 Park Ave. Yao was then transported to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 1: A vehicle fire was reported on Lake Avenue. Police responded and upon his arrival found a 2000 Toyota Camry fully engulfed in flames. The Scotch Plains Fire Department responded to the car fire, and no injuries were reported.

On Sept. 1: A resident in the 500 block of William Street reported a fraud. Someone gained access to victim’s bank accounts and took multiple cash advances totaling several thousand dollars. The incident is under investigation.

On Sept. 1: Krystalda Andrews, 32, of Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of South Plainfield during a motor vehicle stop. Andrews was then transported to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 2: Dewayne P. Jones, 36, of Newark was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of East Orange, during a motor vehicle stop. Jones was then transported to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 4: Alex P. Almodovar, 24, of North Plainfield, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana during a motor vehicle stop. Almodovar was then transported to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 5: Jeremy I. Antoine, 27, of Scotch Plains, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence during a motor vehicle stop. Antoine was then transported to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 5: Ammed L. Saleh, 20, of Parlin, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Freehold Boro during a motor vehicle stop. Saleh was then transported to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 5: The Swisse Pastry Shop located on East Second Street reported illegal dumping.

On Sept. 5: A resident in the 300 block of William Street reported an identity theft. The victim stated someone opened a Target account in their name. The incident is currently under investigation.

On Sept. 6: A resident in the 2600 block of Deer Path reported a fraud. Someone gained access to their credit card information and charged several hundred dollars. The incident is currently under investigation.

On Sept. 7: A resident of Country Club Lane reported a fraud. The victim met an individual online and began sending wire transfers regarding a business transaction which turned out to be a scam. The victim lost in excess of $40,000 and the incident is currently under investigation.

On Sept. 7: Kimberly A. Gutierrez, 22, of Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of South Plainfield during a motor vehicle stop. Gutierrez was then transported to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 9: Jermain L. Henderson, 42, of Roselle, was arrested on several outstanding warrants out of Prospect Park and Clifton during a field investigation. Henderson was then transported to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 10: Patrol responded to a report of a man trying to break into a vehicle on Weaver Street. Offier Tricia DiLollo found a man, later identified as Malik A. Canty, 19, of Scotch Plains on a bicycle in the area. When she approached by DiLollo, he didn't listen to her. Canty was uncooperative with officers on scene and was arrested. During booking procedures, Canty spit on an officer. Canty was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and assault on a police officer. Canty was later transported to the Union County Jail.

On Sept. 11: A resident in the 1100 block of Washington Avenue reported the theft of a black and green Mongoose BMX bicycle valued at $250. The theft occurred on Sept. 1 from the victim’s backyard.

On Sept. 11: A resident reported graffiti in Farley Park. Responding officers found the main building had been spray painted.

On Sept. 14: Erik A. Salinas, 21, of Rahway, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Rahway during a motor vehicle stop. Salinas was then transported to headquarters and processed.

On Sept. 15: A burglary was reported in the area of 300 Country Club Lane. The burglary occurred between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The incident is currently under investigation.

On Sept. 15: Idenisse Mendez, 33, of Plainfield, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and an active warrant out of Middlesex County. Mendez was arrested during an investigation at the Quick Chek located at 1928 Westfield Ave. Mendez was then transported to headquarters for processing and later turned over to Middlesex County.

On Sept. 16: A vehicle burglary was reported at the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School between the hours of 6 and 7 p.m. The vehicle’s side window was broken and a purse was reported stolen.

On Sept. 17: Devon Tordilio, 30, of Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Watchung during a motor vehicle stop. Tordilio was then transported to headquarters and processed.
