Westfield Man Arrested For Christmas Eve Fight With Patrons, Police At Colorado Cafe

The Westfield man was yelling, fighting and cursing with patrons and then later police at the Watchung country bar, police report.

WATCHUNG, NJ — A Westfield man who was yelling and fighting with other patrons on Christmas Eve at the Colorado Cafe on Bonnie Burn Road in Watchung was arrested, police reported.

On Dec. 24 at 2:10 a.m., the 21-year-old was found causing a scene at the cafe. Police warned him multiple times to stop and was then placed in the back of a cop car to wait for another transport car, according to the Watchung Police blotter.

When the transport car arrived, he refused to enter the police car and began yelling obscenities at police. The man's friend then pushed him into the police car. He got out of the car again and continued to yell obscenities, police reported.

He was arrested at the scene, transported to headquarters, processed and released on a complaint to his parents.

On Dec. 21 at 4:18 p.m.: A Virginia resident reported that while making a sandwich at Subway she placed her wallet on the counter and left it by mistake. The next day she was contacted by Subway to let her know he wallet was found. But when she got it she realized $200 was missing, but all other items were there.

On Dec. 19 at 8:45 a.m.: A Mountainside resident reported that while shopping at Stop and Shop she placed her purse containing an envelope with $1,635 in the seat compartment of her cart. She reported someone removed the envelope from her purse and she could not find it.

On Dec. 23 at 2:04 p.m.: Christina Wetmore, 34, of Colonia was arrested for Shoplifting from Kohl's on Route 22 West. A surveillance video shows Wetmore take miscellaneous fragrances and headphones worth $238.06 and try to hide the items as she walked out past the registers. She was stopped by Loss Prevention. Police arrived and she was transported to headquarters, processed and released on a summonses and court date.

On Dec. 26 at 2:27 p.m.: Gustavo Fernandez, 60, of Plainfield was arrested for Shoplifting from Home Depot on Route 22 West. A Loss Prevention Assosciate reported Fernandez took a Dewalt Drill and a Titanium Screw Extractor Set worth $148.97 and hide them in his jacket and try to leave the store before being stopped. He was processed and released on a summonses and court date.

On Dec. 21 at 4:49 p.m.: Meecah Kelly, 28, of Newark was arrested for Shoplifting two video games and headphones worth $61.52 from Walmart on Route 22 West. Kelly also had an active warrant out of Wayne for $1,000. She was transported to headquarters, processed and released on a summonses with a court date.

On Dec. 19 at 10:43 a.m.: Michael Kestel, 26, of North Arlington was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on Route 22 East for having an outstanding warrant out of Bridgewater Municipal Court for $150. He was transported to headquarters, processed and released after posting bail and issued a summonses for failing to wear a seat belt.
