12-Screen Movie Theater Coming To Willowbrook Mall

Seritage SRC Finance's new theater will be where the Sears Auto Center on Rt. 46 is now.

WAYNE, NJ — A new 44,000-square-foot movie theater to the Willowbrook Mall.

The township Planning Board approved the plan for the 12-screen theater and its 80-foot high sign.

The application is part of a project to redevelop Sears' properties at the mall. Phase one was the redeveloping of the Sears store and bringing a Dave & Buster's restaurant and arcade to the second floor.

There is already an AMC Theater located adjacent to the mall.

Cinemark, the project's designer, is the third largest movie theater chain in the country with 529 theaters in the United States and Latin America.

The theater will include electronically-controlled seats, "enhanced concessions" and an arcade, NorthJersey.com reported.

Mayor Chris Vergano said at the Planning Board meeting when the application was approved that he was not happy with the size of theater's 80-foot high sign, but noted that the $10 million investment "outweighs the sign."
