Are These The Greatest 4 Athletes In Wayne Hills History?

WAYNE, NJ — Some of the best athletes in North Jersey history have attended Wayne Hills High School, but these four stand above the rest.

More than 175,000 votes were cast on NJ.com to determine who the top four athletes in school history are.

Here are the results.

No. 1 Greg Olsen, football

Olsen, the son of eight-time champion coach Chris Olsen, was named the Gatorade New Jersey Player of the Year in 2002, and was runner-up for the national award.

He was a standout tight end at Miami before the Chicago Bears drafted him in 2007. He was traded to the Carolina Panthers in 2011 where he has been a three-time pro-bowler and team captain. He is the first tight end in National Football League history to have three consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

No. 2 Nickolette Driesse, soccer

Driesse is a member of the U-20 U.S. Soccer National Team and was drafted No. 32 by the Orlando Pride of the National Women's Soccer League in January.

She won national championships with Florida State and Penn State after racking up 228 points during her high school career. She lead the Patriots to a Passaic County title.

No. 3 Marina Alex, golf

Alex was named LPGA Rookie of the Year in 2013 and finished 11th at the U.S. Women's Open in Bedminster this week.

She won the Tournament of Champions her junior and senior years at Hills, NJ.com reported and received The Star-Ledger's Golfer of the Year award twice.

No. 4 Joe Mendel, track and field

Mendel won the 400-meter dash at the Meet of Champions his senior year and represented the United States at the 2004 Indoor World Championships in Hungary in 2004, NJ.com reported. He also played soccer and basketball while at Hills.
