3 Injured In 13-Vehicle Pileup On Slippery North Jersey Road: Report

A tractor-trailer and a box truck were among the vehicles that collided after black ice formed on the highway, the report said.

PATERSON, NJ — A 13-vehicle crash in Paterson on Tuesday night was caused partially by black ice that formed in the left two lanes of Route 20 after recent heavy rains, a report said.

Three people had injuries from the crash that were not life-threatening, the Paterson Press reported. The crash involved a jackknifed tractor-trailer and a box truck, according to the report.

Habib Kader, the mayor's chief of staff, told the Paterson Press that wreckage from the crash"spread out over the equivalent of a city block." Multiple police and fire crews responded to the scene, the report said.
