Cedar Crest Brings Homemade New York Style Pizza to Campus

Cedar Crest chefs worked with residents to create the delicious pizza recipe.

On November 19, Cedar Crest, an Erickson Living senior living community in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, held a launch party for its new homemade New York style pizza. Cedar Crest chefs worked with residents to create the delicious pizza recipe.

“Our residents are more than thrilled as we had two separate pizza tastings with over 60 residents and Dining staff sampling different pies until we had a unanimous decision on the best tasting Cedar Crest Pizza. We now offer one of the finest pizzas in the area right here on campus,” said Director of Dining Services Paul Cimins.

“Thank you to Chef Harris Gondelman and Chef Jeff Cenko for their help in helping us create the best homemade dough and finding premium sauce and cheese for our pizza as well as to Erickson Living’s Chef Phil Maloney for his support,” said Cimins.

Cimins said the pizzas are baked fresh to order in the restaurant’s new pizza oven. Topping options include fresh vegetables, homemade meatballs, Italian sausage, anchovies and of course traditional pepperoni. In addition to enjoying the pizza at the Oakroom Restaurant, residents can also have pies delivered directly to their apartment homes.

“We are excited to continue to update our menu options in our restaurants,” said Executive Director Todd DeLaney. “Now residents don’t have to leave campus to enjoy a great slice of pizza with friends and family members.”
