Cedar Crest Residents Collect more than 120 gifts for Children in Local Shelter

More than 45 children will receive beautifully wrapped gifts

In December, residents at Cedar Crest Retirement Community in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, collected more than 120 gifts for donation to 20 families residing in a local shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence.

The presents were delivered secretly to the shelter so that the mothers can give the gifts to their children during the holidays. More than 45 children will receive beautifully wrapped gifts such as toys, books, games, stuffed animals, shoes, clothing, coats, crafts, art supplies, a guitar, and sports equipment.

The gift drive is organized each year on campus by Cedar Crest residents Cathy Matich and Gloria McCormick assisted by a team of 12 other residents. Several non-residents also helped with various tasks.

“Thank you to all the Cedar Crest residents who donated to the gift drive this year and for helping to make the holidays special for local families in need,” said Cathy Matich.
