Cedar Crest Welcomes Rev. Dr. Karyn Ratcliffe

New Pastor for the Protestant Community at senior living community in Pompton Plains.

The Protestant Community at Cedar Crest, a developed and managed Erickson Living senior living community in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, is happy to welcome Reverend Dr. Karyn A. Ratcliffe as their new faith leader and pastor.

Reverend Ratcliffe was the Senior Minister at The Packanack Community Church (United Church of Christ) in Wayne for many years. She received a M.Div. from New Brunswick Seminary and was ordained in the Reformed Church in America in 1997. She received a Doctorate of Ministry from Drew University in 2014. Rev. Karyn lives with her husband, Chris, in Wayne and has an adult daughter.

Protestant Council President, Kathy Moffitt, commented, “We are all very excited by the possibilities of having a younger pastor with lots of energy and new ideas. It will be fun watching her incorporate her style into our non-denominational services. Our unique and challenging congregation is made up of as many as 28 different Protestant denominations. It’s not easy to find someone able to relate to most of us successfully.”

Services are held Sundays at 10 a.m. in the beautiful Interfaith Chapel located on the grounds of this large continuing care community where about 1,800 people live independently in apartment homes. Services are simulcast on Cedar Crest closed circuit TV, thus bringing the services to residents in Cedar Crest’s continuing care neighborhood who might not be able to attend in person. The Protestant Community also employs a professional organist and choirmaster. All are welcome to attend the services.

Cedar Crest is a not-for-profit organization, developed and managed by Erickson Living®. The community is governed by its own board of directors affiliated with National Senior Campuses, who provide independent financial and operational oversight of the community.
