Child Sex Assault Charges Filed Against North Jersey Man: Officials

Officials say the 49-year-old, who works as a carpenter, sexually assaulted a teenager.

CLIFTON, NJ — A Clifton carpenter faces multiple charges, after officials say he sexually assaulted a teenager in Bergen County.

Esmond Nimblett, 49, faces charges of sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.

Police in Englewood contacted the prosecutor's office on July 23 about an alleged sexual assault of a child between the ages of 13 and 16, Musella said. An investigation revealed that Nimblett sexually assaulted the child in Englewood, Musella said.

Officials arrested Nimblett in Clifton on Thursday and took him to the Bergen County Jail, said Musella.

The charges he faces are two counts of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact, and a third-degree endangering the welfare of a child charge, said Musella.
