FOWA festival and fundraising dog walk

Friends of Wayne Animals will hold its annual festival on Saturday, Sept. 24 at the North Jersey Equestrian Center, 1 Carlson Pl., off Route 23 north in Pompton Plains from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rain date is Sept. 25.

Walkers can bring their dog along for a scenic walk around the grounds. Minimum $25 pledge required to participate. Pre-registration encouraged. Pledge form is available at www.fowa.petfinder.com

This is a free family event that is open to the public. One does not need a dog to attend.

FOWA will feature many cats and dogs up for adoption. 

Featured will be: a kids craft table, music by DJ Paul De Carlo – Stikman Productions, pet microchipping for a a $25 donation to FOWA, Davis Academy School of Irish Dancing demo, author John Dwyer and his rescue dog Shelby, a comedy show by Harris Bloom, mini tricky tray, dentistry talk by Dr. Susan Cropper DVM, Passaic County K-9 Unit demonstration, dog training demo, and dog contests throughout the day.

Want to know what your dog is thinking? Why are they behaving the way they do? Stop by to talk to Shira the pet psychic.

In addition, Cindy Mauro, an AKC CGC evaluator for Bright & Beautiful therapy dog evaluator, will offer therapy dog testing, and 100 percent of the proceeds ($20 a test) for the testing will go to FOWA. Food and drinks will be available for sale from Jersey Johnny's Grill. Also available will be kettle korn, fudge and homemade baked goods. 

FOWA will draw winning tickets for its annual raffle at 3 p.m. Tickets are $1 a chance. Grand prize is a $1,000 bank gift card, second prize is a $500 bank gift card and third prize is a $250 bank gift card.
