Garfield Teens Charged With Murdering Bergen Pizza Man

Andy DeJesus and Joel Nunez, both 18, were charged with murdering Dervy Almonte-Moore, 27 while he was making a delivery July 15.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Two Bergen County teenagers were charged with murder and robbery in the death of a pizza delivery man who was shot and killed in Clifton July 15, the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday.

Andy DeJesus and Joel Nunez, both 18, both of Garfield, were each charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, and robbery; and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery and various weapons charges, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said in a news release.

The victim in the robbery was Dervy Almonte-Moore, 27. Moore was making a delivery for Jumbo's Pizza in Clifton when he was approached by several people, Valdes said.

One of the people had a handgun. Almonte-Moore tried to drive away, but he was shot. He was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson at about 2:48 a.m., Valdes said.

Nunez and DeJesus are scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court Wednesday morning.
