Glen Rock attorney Gurbir Grewal was sworn in as acting Bergen County prosecutor Monday.

Grewal, 42, was also sworn in as an assistant attorney general in Trenton, The Record reported.

Christie nominated Gerwal to succeed Molinelli two years ago, but the state Senate never scheduled a hearing on his appointment. Christie will have to renominate Grewal for the position, who must be approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee, The Record reported.

Grewal is a Democrat. He is chief of the Newark-based Economic Crimes Unit (ECU) of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, where he has worked since November 2010 and has prosecuted white-collar crimes.
