Hills, Valley Football Teams Will Face Off In Inaugural Preakness Cup Game Friday
A special community presentation will follow the game.

The Wayne Hills and Wayne Valley high school football teams will face off against each other in the inaugural Preakness Cup game Friday at Wayne Valley.
The Preakness Cup is a new trophy named after the famous Wayne race horse, Preakness. The cup will go to the winning team to display at its school.
The winning team must also demonstrate a “commitment to community, sportsmanship, and service” by completing a community service project, said Superintendent Mark Toback.

“Many people believe you have to travel to Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Florida to see a great high school football game,” Toback said. “Wayne residents are very fortunate because on any fall weekend, you need not travel more than a few miles to be able to see two great high school football teams in action.”
Team captains, head coaches, and principals from both schools will meet at Wayne Valley for a pre-game luncheon at 11 a.m.

The Wayne HIlls marching band will perform in a pre-game ceremony at 6:35 p.m. and the Wayne Hills cheerleading squad will perform a pre-game cheer at 6:50 p.m. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.
The Wayne Valley national champion marching band will perform, along with the school’s cheerleading squad, will perform at halftime.
There will also be a special community presentation at halftime. Toback would not comment further on the presentation.
The game will also be televised on MSG Varsity.
