Major Preakness Avenue Detour Starts Wednesday

Traffic will be detoured from Laauwe Avenue onto Garside Avenue and back onto Preakness Avenue.

WAYNE, NJ — Part of Laauwe Avenue will be closed for construction for three weeks beginning Wednesday.

Officials anticipate the southbound side of Laauwe at the intersection of Preakness Avenue will be closed until May 24 and again from June 5 through 7.

Traffic will be detoured onto Garside Avenue and back onto Preakness Avenue at the Garside Avenue intersection. Motorists will be able to turn onto Laauwe Avenue from Preakness Avenue.

The weather and how well construction proceeds could alter the schedule, officials said.
