Man Who Kidnapped Wayne Girl Indicted On Child Porn Charges: Feds
Darius Matylewich, 27, remains behind bars after officials say he met the victim online.

WAYNE, NJ — A 27-year-old man has been indicted on federal charges for allegedly coercing an 11-year-old kid from Wayne Township to create child pornography for him.
Darius Matylewich, 27, of Bear, Delaware, is facing new charges of coercion and enticement of a minor, as well as production of child pornography, according to David C. Weiss, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware.
Matylewich has been accused of traveling to Wayne Township to meet a child, whom he then drove 135 miles back to his home in Delaware "without the knowledge or consent of her parents" in September.

Matylewich was previously charged in October for the kidnapping and endangerment of the same child by a judge in Passaic County, New Jersey.
According to the indictment and publicly filed documents, on Sept. 10, 2023, the Wayne Township Police Department received a report of a missing 11-year-old.

The victim's mother told authorities that her daughter had previously gone missing for a few hours in June to meet with a man she met online and that she believed her daughter would be with him again.
The mother was also able to provide local police with a Facebook account with the username “Darius Styles,” which was ultimately identified as Matylewich.
Court records show that the Wayne Police Department located Matylewich's phone number and residence in Delaware. They called the man, and "surprisingly," he answered.
According to court documents, officers questioned Matylewich for more than half an hour before he admitted to picking up the victim from the hotel and driving her to his home in Bear.
"Throughout the call, the Defendant routinely denied a sexual relationship, stating that it was 'something that just happened,' that he thought he was 'doing the right thing,' and was 'sorry' for what happened," court records show.
Police also said Matylewich claimed that he thought the victim was 13, not 11.
The New Castle County Police Department was ultimately able to safely recover the 11-year-old victim about four hours after her disappearance.

Officials said the two met through talking in games such as Roblox and Dead by Daylight and they communicated on Discord, TikTok and Snapchat before the incident.
A forensic examination of Matylewich's cellphone and social media revealed communication threads in which he pressured the 11-year-old victim into performing sexual acts and, as a result, producing child pornography for him.
Investigators also discovered messages in which Matylewich acknowledged discreetly spying and following the victim near a New Jersey home.
Matylewich utilized an iPhone app to record conversations, films, and photographs of the 11-year-old doing sexual activities that he had solicited from the victim through Snapchat.
Furthermore, police said Matylewich saved hundreds of films and photographs of the victim in his Apple Photos application's "hidden" folder, which can only be accessed via Apple's face recognition, Face ID.
According to court records, Matylewich regularly told the victim that he loved her and guilt-tripped her. He also gave her gifts, like Roblox gift cards, and suggested she could pay him back with sexual favors.
"Although the Defendant may claim that he was trying to help the Victim navigate a difficult home life by providing her a place to stay, his true motivation— to victimize an eleven-year-old child— is revealed in the final line above," court records state.
Federal officials have charged Matylewich with coercion and enticement of a minor and production of child pornography. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and up to a maximum period of life imprisonment.
