Marcal Paper Mill Demolition Starts Monday: Report
Altogether, 31 of the plant's 36 buildings were destroyed, along with Marcal's iconic sign.

ELMWOOD PARK, NJ - Demolition will begin Monday on the Marcal Paper Mill property, where more than two-dozen of the plant’s buildings were destroyed during a massive fire in January, according to a report.
Cleanup and recovery efforts will take place Monday through Friday, during the daytime hours, and last about four months, NorthJersey.com reported.
Rob Baron, president of Soundview Paper Co. - the property's owner -, told the newspaper recovery is still "extraordinary in scope" due to the magnitude of damage.

On Jan. 30, more than 100 firefighters worked to battle the nine-alarm blaze. Altogether, 31 of the plant’s 36 buildings were destroyed, along with Marcal’s iconic sign.
No injuries were reported.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said in June it’s unlikelythey’ll ever know the exact cause of the fire because it was too intense and left too much damage.
Authorities did say that the fire began in a storage area of one of the buildings, which contained large roles of paper used to make the company’s paper products.
