Wayne Neighbors Concerned After Alleged Sexual Assailant Released From Jail
A judge ordered Pedro Quezada released from jail because he did not think he would flee.
WAYNE, NJ — Neighbors are concerned and nervous after a man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl came home after a judge ordered him released from jail.
Judge Ernest Caposela ordered Pedro Quezada released from Passaic County Jail Monday because he did not think he would flee the area, according to a report by NorthJersey.com.
Quezada must wear an ankle bracelet, stay at home and may only travel to his financial adviser's and lawyers' offices, according to the report. Neighbors reporting seeing Quezada enter his home Monday.

"There are so many families that live here," said Jennifer Battershill, who lives next door to Quezada. "There's a park and school right by here."
Another of Quezada's neighbors echoed her concerns.

"We are freaking out," the neighbor said. "I'm shocked that they don't think he is a flight risk. This is a very family-friendly neighborhood and now it's going to be like, 'Is he watching us?'"

Quezada, 49, was arrested recently and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault for allegedly abusing the girl when she was between 11 and 14 years old when he lived in Passaic, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced Thursday.
The alleged victim, now 20, said in a statement to police that Quezada would touch her when he was alone with her when she was 11 or 12, according to a NorthJersey.com article.
The woman said that when she was about 13 or 14 years old, Quezada forced her to have sex with him after buying her a flat iron for her hair, according to court documents cited in the report.
The woman's aunt said in a statement to authorities Aug. 10 that Quezada raped her niece in 2016, according to the report.
Quezada won the $338 million Powerball lottery jackpot in 2013.
After winning the millions, Quezada reportedly went back on a promise to pay his neighbors' rent and dumped his girlfriend of 19 years without giving her a penny, The Daily Mail reported.
Quezada must also register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and would be on parole supervision for life if convicted and when released from prison.
