NJ Caretaker Forced Mentally Disabled Woman To Grope Him: Court Docs

Police said the woman was "incapable of understanding the distinctively sexual nature of the conduct."

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Additional details have been made available on the Passaic County man who faces sexual contact charges regarding an incident with his patient.

Last week, Jay Boone, 54, from Ogdensburg, was arrested after police discovered he’d molested a female patient at the caretaker facility where he was employed, police said.

On Feb. 26, around 5 p.m., police were called to a respite care facility in the area of Oak Ridge Road and Paradise Road in West Milford.

Authorities learned that a 40-year-old woman, considered “developmentally disabled” by police and under the facility's care, was forced to have unwanted sexual contact with a direct support professional, later identified as Boone, twice that day, prosecutors say.

Court documents say that Boone had forcibly placed the woman’s hand on his erect penis and used it to “continuously rub his penis” over his sweatpants. Video footage captures the woman pulling her hand away, and Boone continuing to grab it and use it for his own sexual gratification, an affidavit says.

The incident happened twice and took place in the dayroom, in which other patients were present, authorities said.

Officials added that Boone had “direct supervisory control” over the victim at the time of the incident, and that the victim was “incapable of understanding the distinctively sexual nature of the conduct” due to her undisclosed condition.

A month-long investigation led to charges against Boone. A warrant for his arrest was issued, and he turned himself in to the West Milford Police on Thursday.

Boone now faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual contact. If convicted, he could spend up to 10 years in prison.

Anyone with additional information on this incident, or another incident related to Boone, is asked to call the prosecutor's tips line at 1-877-370-PCPO.
