NJ Gov. Phil Murphy Receives RFK Human Rights Award
Since taking office, Murphy has enacted the strongest equal pay law in the US and supported NJ's immigrants, the organization says.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy was named a 2018 Ripple of Hope laureate Monday by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization.
Murphy is "committed to creating stronger state economy based on principals of fairness and justice," the organization stated in a news release Monday.
Since taking office in January, Murphy has enacted the strongest equal pay law in the country, strengthened voting rights, and supported New Jersey's immigrant communities.

"For a half-century, the legacy of Robert F. Kennedy has been a model for public service based on the simple premise that our highest calling is to leave is a more understanding and inclusive world for future generations,” said Murphy. “This is exactly the New Jersey I am working to create – a state that is strong and fair, which welcomes and embraces diversity, and ensures greater educational and economic opportunities for all. To have these efforts recognized, and linked to the legacy of Senator Kennedy, one of my personal heroes, is a tremendous honor.”

Laureates are selected for their work toward a more just and peaceful world. Previously-named laureates include: President Bill Clinton, George Clooney, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and Robert De Niro.
Former President Barack Obama was also named a laureate this year. Laureates will be honored during the annual Ripple of Hope Gala in New York City Dec. 12.
