NJ Transit Bus Catches Fire On Route 23 In Wayne

WAYNE, NJ — A NJ Transit bus caught fire on Route 23 South Tuesday morning.
The 194 line was going from Butler to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan when it caught fire near the Route 23 and Route 46 merge at about 7 a.m., said Jim Smith, a NJ Transit spokesman.
The driver extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher on the bus, Smith said.

No injuries were reported among the 54 passengers. Other NJ Transit buses in the area picked them up, Smith said.
The bus that caught fire was taken out of service.
