Opening Ceremony for Cedar Crest Summer Olympics Held on August 8

Festive event included parade led by West Milford Special Olympic Team

Let the games begin! On August 8, Cedar Crest commenced its Summer Olympics with a festive opening ceremony. Spectators cheered as members of the West Milford Special Olympic Team led the Olympic-style parade of more than 30 Cedar Crest residents and staff through the walking paths on campus to kick off the event.

During the ceremony, Assemblyman Scott Rumana gave a warm welcome and William Paterson University student Lisa Bremer, who works for Cedar Crest’s Dining Services, sang the National Anthem.

Immediately following the ceremony, the teams representing different countries competed in their first event, the Accuracy Toss. Participants tossed a rubber chicken towards a bull’s eye on the ground for points. Other activities during the week include a Nu-Step Relay, Amazing Race, and Trivia. On Friday, Cedar Crest will present awards to teams at the closing ceremony.
