Passaic Co. Fishing Derby Postponed Due To Rain And Wind In Forecast

Sorry, fishing fans - the forecast for Saturday has caused officials to call off the county fishing derby.

CLIFTON, NJ — Rainy, windy conditions expected on Saturday will postpone the fourth annual Passaic County Fishing Derby, officials said.

A potential tropical storm brewing off the coast of the Southeastern U.S. will bring rain and gusty winds to North Jersey, with possible thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. Gusts could be as high as 30 miles per hour, and there is a 90 percent chance of precipitation in Clifton, said forecasters.

The derby was originally scheduled for Sept. 23 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Main Memorial Park in Clifton, to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day. The new date has not been rescheduled.
