WAYNE, NJ — A Wayne man was arrested after police received reports of a possible hostage situation on Wednesday.

Police said it was reported that Perota "threatened to shoot police upon their arrival."

When they arrived on the scene, Wayne police officers found the family member outside with visible injuries, they say from an altercation with Perota.
After it was first reported that Perota was locked in his bedroom with a "female acquaintance," additional officers from Wayne and surrounding agencies, including the Passaic County Sheriff's Office, responded to the scene.

A Passaic County SWAT Team and the Wayne First Aid Squad also reported to the scene, as did Wayne Township Animal Control, who were called in to assist because of "multiple" pit bulls in the home.
The additional man power wasn't needed, however, as it was determined after the SWAT Team entered the home that Perota fled before they arrived.
He was eventually arrested at a home on Fulton Street in Paterson, police said.
Perota is charged on a criminal complaint warrant with multiple domestic violence offenses and possession of stolen property, which was found in his bedroom.
He was remanded to Passaic County Jail.
