School Board Elections: See The 5 People Who Filed To Run In Wayne
Three board members will see their seats expire at the end of this year, and only one of them filed for candidacy. See the list below:

WAYNE, NJ — Three Wayne Township school board seats will be up for grabs in the general election this fall, with only one current member among the five who filed petitions to be candidates.
The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023.
In Wayne, three of nine board members have terms expiring in 2023: Board President Donald Pavlak Jr., Sean Duffy, and Catherine Kazan.

Pavlak is the only Wayne Township incumbent who filed a petition with the Passaic County Clerk's Elections Division, the county candidate list shows.
Any candidates filing a nominating petition for school board membership must gather at least 10 signatures from qualified voters living in the district (their own signature will count). The deadline for submission to the Passaic County Clerk's Office was at 4 p.m. on July 31.

Candidates could file jointly, and the five listed also submitted a slogan to run with. Here is who will appear on the ballot Nov. 7, and their submitted slogan:
- Ehab Husein: "For Kids Sake"
- Wendy Limandri: "Children First" (jointly-filed candidate)
- Mark Faber: "Children First" (jointly-filed candidate)
- Donald Pavlak (incumbent): "Empower, Educate, Elevate"
- Suzanne Pudup: "United For Wayne"
Board members are responsible for a variety of duties each year, including setting district goals, overseeing the budget and curriculum, and hiring administrators and staff (as well as renewing contracts).
Several Passaic Co. school districts, including Totowa and Passaic, hold their elections in April instead of November according to a northjersey.com report.
