Animal Shelter to be Renamed for Former Councilman Saturday
Alan Purcell has rescued abused and neglected animals for years.

The animal shelter will be rededicated as The Alan Purcell Animal Shelter at noon on Saturday township officials announced.
Purcell has helped neglected and abused animals for years as a member of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He was instrumental in moving the shelter to Pompton Plains Crossroads.
Purcell resigned from the council in June. His health has been deteriorating in recent months. He has been battling Emphysema since 2004.
