Teen Footloose Performance at the YMCA

Aspire Performing Arts Company brings Footloose to the this summer. Lisa Beth Vettoso will direct this teen production, scheduled for Firday, July 27 at 8 p.m., and Saturday, July 28 at 3 p.m.

The recently released movie saw a large audience in theaters. The performers of this summer musical seek inspire their audience with a live onstage performance of the movie musicial.

Footloose follows big city boy, Ren, and his mother on their move from Chicago to a small farming town. Although he is prepared for a big adjustment at his new high school, Ren is shocked to learn about the town's ban on dancing, instituted by a local preacher, reaching for every ounce of control he can bear over the town's youth. In a heartfelt story of passionate youthfulness, Footloose connects music and rhythm to a young boy and man's struggles for a relationship.

Footloose inspires young people to be kind and accepting, through its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score and original stage music.

Director Lisa Beth Vettoso founded Aspire Performing Arts in January 2011. Vettoso has more than 20 years experience in performing arts, and has been working with children for more than 10 years. The company seeks to educate children and teens, while providing them with full-length production opportunities in a friendly atmosphere.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. The performance will be held in the Rosen Theater at the Wayne YMCA.

The Y is located at One Pike Drive in Wayne.
