Tractor-Trailer Slams Into NJ Business, Trapping Driver, Police Say
Police said the building is "damaged severely," and utility services have been turned off in the immediate area.
PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A tractor-trailer has crashed into a commercial building in Passaic County, leading to the dramatic rescue of its driver, according to police.
On Monday, just before 2:30 a.m., a tractor-trailer careened off the eastbound exit ramp from Route 3 to Passaic Avenue, slamming into Limo Ride, a limousine service on Kensington Avenue, officials said.
A report by ABC7 said the driver was trapped in the cab for an hour until firefighters were able to extract. It added that another person was rescued from an upper floor inside the business.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to a Clifton police spokesperson.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain unclear at this time, and the incident is under investigation.
Police expect the removal of the truck to take up most of the day Monday, due to "the need for extensive stabilization of the structure."
As of 10:30 a.m. Monday, traffic is flowing in both directions of Route 3, but ramps to and from Passaic Avenue are expected to be closed for most of the day, police said.
