Wayne A&P Receives No Bids In Bankruptcy Auction: Report
Another round of bidding is scheduled to be held Thursday.

Bids were not made on five A&P stores, including the one in Wayne, and three Pathmark stores last week and the fate of those stores, and their employees, is uncertain, The Record reported.
The Bergen County-based Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company Inc., which owns A&P, Pathmark, Superfresh, Food Emporium, and Food Basics, filed for bankruptcy July 19 and closed 25 stores in September and has been trying to find buyers for the rest of its stores.
Bids were not made on the A&P stores in Pompton Lakes, Washington Township, Wayne, West Milford, and Woodland Park and Pathmark stores in Fair Lawn, Hackensack, and Ramsey, the report states.

Another round of bidding is scheduled to be held in New York City Thursday at the offices of Weil Gotshal & Manges, the law firm representing A&P in its bankruptcy case, according to the report.
Food Basics stores in Fairview, Glen Rock, and Paterson, are part of a group of 16 stores Key Food bid $28.5 million for, which will be accepted if no competing offers are received, the report states.

More than 8,000 A&P employees will be laid off from their jobs on Thanksgiving Day. Many store locations were purchased by other companies, including ACME Markets, Inc., Ahold’s Stop & Shop Supermarket Co., and Key Food Stores Co-operative Inc.
