Wayne Named One Of The 'Safest Cities To Raise A Child' In The U.S.

SafeWise looked at FBI stats, graduation rates, school rankings, and kid-friendly programs to determine the top 50 municipalities.

WAYNE, N.J. — The township was ranked the 31st safest place to raise a child by SafeWise, an independent agency, recently.

SafeWise said it examined FBI crime statistics, population data, state graduation rates, and sex offender populations to determine the rankings.

Also, municipalities with fewer than 10,000 people and those that did not submit a complete report to the FBI were eliminated from consideration.

Wayne received an honorable mention at 31. Several New Jersey municipalities, including Middletown Township at five, along with Bridgewater, Hillsborough, Franklin Township, and Edison were ranked higher than Wayne on the list.

Carmel, Indiana was ranked No. 1 on the list.
