Wayne Panthers Give Jersey To Teammate Battling Cancer

Danny McCabe is unable to play in his final season with the Wayne Boys & Girls Club's team.

WAYNE, N.J. — You're never alone when you're a Panther.

Danny McCabe was presented with a Panthers football jersey recently by members of the team. McCabe is a longtime Panther at the Wayne Boys & Girls club who is unable to play this, his final, season because he is battling Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

McCabe, 13, is in eighth grade and has been playing Panther football since he was 5.

"He's a great kid," said Dave Font, director of the Wayne Boys & Girls Club.

McCabe is done receiving chemotherapy treatments.

"The battle is going extremely well," Font said. "We're happy that he's doing well and hopefully he'll be back out there playing football soon."
