Wayne Shooting Yields Charges For Accomplice: Prosecutor

The man is the second person facing charges connected to the September incident, according to the Passaic County prosecutor.

WAYNE, NJ — A second man now faces charges connected to a September shooting in Wayne. Errol Heber served as an accomplice to the shooting that occurred Sept. 5 at Mountainview Boulevard and Parish Drive, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.

Police previously identified Robert Jackson as the gunman who fired a handgun several times in the direction of three victims — none of whom sustained injuries — according to authorities. Heber was charged with aggravated assault (second-degree), unlawful possession of a handgun (second-degree), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (second-degree), certain persons not to have weapons (second-degree) and hindering apprehension (third-degree).

Based on the investigation, authorities issued a warrant for Heber's arrest. East Rutherford police pulled him over and arrested him at about 11 p.m. Oct. 1. Heber, of Passaic, was also charged with unrelated drug offenses as a result of the vehicle stop, the prosecutor's office said.

Heber, 36, also received additional charges Oct. 4 from a related investigation. The man was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon (second-degree), possession of a large-capacity magazine (fourth-degree), possession of hollow-nose bullets (fourth-degree), certain persons not to have weapons (second-degree), drug possession (third-degree) and drug possession with intent to distribute (third-degree).
