Wayne Teens Killed In Crash Were Pursued By NY Deputy: Officials
Two Wayne teens died in a crash in Ostego County, N.Y. after a deputy attempted to stop them Friday night, said officials.
WAYNE, NJ — Officers in New York State were pursuing the car two Wayne teens were in before they died in a crash Friday night, said officials.

NY State Police said a sheriff's deputy attempted a traffic stop on the car in the town of Guilford, which is in Chenango County about 70 miles southeast of Syracuse.

Police said the car continued on State Route 8 into the Ostego County town of Butternuts, where Enrico left the roadway and crashed into several trees. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, said NY state police.
The NYSP did not say why the Chenango County Sheriff's Deputy attempted a traffic stop.

The New York Attorney General's office is investigating the crash.
Grief counselors will be available at the school from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, according to a letter to parents from the school district.
NY state police said the crash was at the intersection of State Route 51 and Flatiron Road in Butternuts at about 9:41 p.m. on Friday, March 31.
