This event announcement comes after some other communities in the area received flack for canceling their own ceremonies due to coronavirus concerns.

In Mahwah, oft-criticized Mayor John Roth bore the brunt of township frustrations after he announced the annual event was canceled on social media.

New York City's annual "Tribute In Light" was also canceled due to coronavirus concerns.
