How Freezes Effect Salary

Accurate information about a staff member's years of experience in the Robbinsville School District and the salary received.

The most pressing issue we face in our community is retaining high-quality teachers and staff. Currently, a teacher with 13 years of experience in Robbinsville is making $9,000 LESS than a teacher with the same experience in Hamilton. The current situation is unsustainable, and most frustratingly could be salvaged without even a penny being raised in additional taxes. We fervently hope the Board will realize this and are prepared to do what’s necessary to save quality schools for the community and ensure fairness for all of the educators of Robbinsville.

It is both shocking and disheartening to see a School Board that controls millions of dollars in public funds share incorrect information with the community. The Robbinsville Board of Education recently published a chart attempting to compare teaching salaries in Robbinsville to other districts in Mercer County. Unfortunately, the information listed for Robbinsville is inaccurate. The Board is attempting to equate the steps on a salary guide with years of experience in a district. This is wrong.

Here is an accurate listing of years of experience for Robbinsville employees along with their corresponding salaries for the 2021-2022 school year

* Years impacted by salary freezes end up lumping staff with different levels of experience on the same step. All staff with 8 years or more experience in the district have been impacted and are earning less than they should be earning.

As you can plainly see, the actual years of experience for many district employees do not match what the School Board published.

If the School Board can be so far off on their own data, how can they be trusted to share accurate information about surrounding school districts' data? The answer is, that they can’t. Evidence of this is clear from the fact that both the Ewing Education Association President and Ewing Business Administrator have been in contact with the Robbinsville Superintendent about correcting their data. Additionally, one wonders whether the BA’s failure to do due diligence with the Robbinsville data will impact the very generous increase in salary he is slated to receive this coming school year.

Since the Board opened the door to comparisons with other districts, the Robbinsville Education Association will happily walk through it. We will be providing accurate and detailed comparisons with other districts in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned.
