New Details Emerge In Plainsboro Woman's Murder

Neighbors said they heard Carolyn Byington screaming hours before police found her deceased in her Plainsboro apartment, News 12 reports.

PLAINSBORO, NJ — Details concerning the circumstances of the death of a 26-year-old Plainsboro woman who was found murdered in her apartment on Monday have begun to emerge.

Carolyn Byington, 26, went home for lunch on Monday afternoon and never returned to work, News 12 reports. Neighbors told the news station they heard screams coming from her home at about 1 p.m.

Police responded to her home that evening after her co-workers asked them conduct a wellness check, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office previously said.

She was pronounced dead at 7:36 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy determined the manner of death to be homicide.

Authorities have not revealed how Byington, who lived in Hunters Glen, was killed. No new developments have been announced in the case since the initial announcement on Tuesday. A spokesperson wasn’t immediately available for comment Friday morning.

Byington was a project manager for Engine US in Princeton, according to her LinkedIn profile. She graduated from Ridge High School in 2011 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College.

"Engine is in mourning over this shocking, senseless tragedy," the marketing firm said in a statement. "Carolyn was deeply cared about by her colleagues. We extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to her family and friends."

She previously worked with the American Cancer Society, lived in Princeton and Morristown, and spent some time in Japan with Temple University in 2014.

She was quiet and kept to herself, neighbors told NJ Advance Media. She was typically only seen when she was going to and from work.

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Jennifer Byington, and her younger sister, according to Heavy.com.
