LaKesha Bryant was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer earlier in February. More than 1,200 people have donated to help her pay for care.

CLAYTON, NJ — More than 1,200 people have pitched in to help a Gloucester County teacher and coach who is fighting stage 3 colon cancer on GoFundMe.

LaKesha Bryant is a health and physical education teacher at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology, and a former member of the NJ Air National Guard, 177th Wing, where she served as a Medical Technician Senior Airman, according to the GoFundMe.

"If you know Kesha, you know she is a hard worker, independent, and strong woman," he wrote. "She is the most genuine and kind-hearted person you could ever meet. Her smile brightens any room."

Ruczynski said Bryant has no sick leave left, and needs financial support as she undergoes chemotherapy and pays her bills.

"Please consider donating to Kesha during this difficult and uncertain time. The last thing she needs to worry about is her financial situation, let’s put her in a place where she can focus on her health."

The fundraiser had an initial goal of $20,000, which it eclipsed quickly, said Ruczynski.

"Thank you everyone for your generosity, your support is greatly appreciated and Ms. Bryant is so grateful and very overwhelmed by all the support. Let’s keep it rolling!"
