Armed Thieves Steal Car From Gloucester County Driveway: Police

The two masked thieves pushed the Dodge Charger to a nearby elementary school.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Washington Township Police Department is asking for the public's help after armed thieves stole a red 2019 Dodge Charger from a person's driveway on Saturday.

Surveillance video showed that around 3:20 a.m., a person holding what appeared to be a Glock handgun with an extended magazine stood guard as another person smashed a window of the car in a driveway along Doe Court.

Both suspects were masked and wearing gloves and sweatshirts.

After getting in through the rear passenger window, the suspects were able to push the car across the street to Hurffville Elementary School. Two other cars, a stolen Acura and a stolen Dodge, were waiting at the school.

The Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack (392) had tinted windows, black wheels, a performance hood, Daytona markings on the rear spoiler, and visible damage to the back right passenger window.

At around 3:22 a.m., plate readers captured the Dodge after the suspects started the car and drove through the Five Points intersection, followed by another stolen vehicle.

Approximately 10 minutes later, the car crossed the Walt Whitman Bridge into Philadelphia.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 856-589-0330 (ext. 1143).

Police reminded residents to park in garages when they can and to utilize steering wheel locks. Key fobs should also be removed from entryways.

If you notice any suspicious activity, such as people checking vehicles in your neighborhood, call 9-1-1 immediately.
