DORCHESTER, NJ - State police are seeking information about a man who allegedly tried to take a boy from a South Jersey Wawa store on Sunday afternoon.

At around 12:20 p.m., an unidentified man entered a Wawa convenience store on State Highway 47 in Dorchester (Maurice River) and attempted to take a 7-year-old boy, state police said in a news release.

The man reportedly approached the boy in the bathroom and offered him candy to leave with him, police said. The boy reportedly refused, prompting the man to grab him by the arm and attempt to take him from the store.

While the boy was able to escape, the man left the store before being located by the boy’s family, police said.

The man is described as an older white male with gray hair combed back wearing blue jeans and a maroon or burgundy tee shirt. No vehicle information is currently available, police said.
