District 15 Little League Update: West Deptford Majors Win
The 11- and 12-year-old team closed out pool play undefeated, while the Junior League baseball and softball teams suffered setbacks.
West Deptford's Majors made it through pool play unscathed, and will be the top seed out of Pool Four after a win Sunday.
West Deptford knocked off Oak Valley, 16-2, in four-and-a-half innings Sunday evening to clinch the top spot in the pool. They'll face the second-place team from Pool One, Harrison Township, which eked out a 3-2 win over Deptford to clinch their spot in the elimination round.
The knockout tournament starts Tuesday evening, with West Deptford-Harrison slated for 7 p.m. at East Greenwich. The winner will advance to the semis at Glassboro Wednesday evening.

West Deptford's older teams didn't have as much luck over the weekend, though. The Junior League softball team, fresh off a 20-2 win in the opening round, got roughed up by Pitman, 13-3. The Junior League baseball team, which had its game suspended in the heat Saturday morning, didn't have enough in the tank when the game resumed, dropping a 13-10 decision to Gibbstown.
The softballers will get right back to it, with a loser's-bracket game against Gibbstown in Mantua at 6 p.m. Monday. The baseball team will get a bit of a respite, and will wait for the bracket to play out behind them, before getting the loser's bracket final Wednesday evening at West Deptford.
