Eastern Regional: Rain Wreaks Havoc

Today's schedule is compressed, and may have to go to single-elimination.

The grounds crew at the Senior League Eastern Regional could handle one major thunderstorm Tuesday.

Asking them to take on two turned out to be too much, as a second wave of rain that pushed through and drenched less than an hour before the delayed start of play Tuesday night washed out both the winner's bracket final and the penultimate elimination-round game.

Because a regional champion has to be crowned by Thursday, the schedule has been revised; Massachusetts and Maryland will play at noon Wednesday, followed by Pennsylvania taking on New York, with the final elimination-round game taking place at roughly 5 p.m..

A potential championship game would then take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, with a second, deciding game–if necessary–starting 30 minutes after that game's conclusion.

Tournament officials have the option of going to single-elimination, should weather affect any of the rescheduled games.
