Man Killed Victim With Broken Bottle During Argument In South Jersey; Victim ID'd: Police

The victim suffered a 'large stab wound to the neck' after an altercation outside of the suspect's home, officials said.

BRIDGETON, NJ — A man has been charged after authorities say he fatally stabbed another man with a broken bottle last weekend in Cumberland County.

Regino Hernandez-Morales stabbed Gildardo Sanchez-Ramos after they got into an argument Sunday night outside in front of Hernandez-Morales's Bridgeton home, police said. Sanchez-Ramos, 23, of Bridgeton, was treated at the hospital for a "large stab wound to the neck before he succumbed to his injuries early Monday morning, according to Bridgeton Police Chief Michael A. Gaimari.

Hernandez-Morales, 29, was charged with murder and weapons offenses. He was arrested Monday afternoon after detectives executed a search warrant on his home in the 100 block of Walnut Street, police said.

Police initially responded to Inspira Medical Center Vineland, where acquaintances brought Sanchez-Ramos after the stabbing, authorities said. Officers later determined that the incident occurred in front of Hernandez-Morales's home, according to Gaimari.

Officers recovered evidence from the scene, including the weapon they believe was used, Gaimari said.

Hernandez-Morales was placed in Cumberland County Jail without bail. No further arrests are anticipated in the case, police said.
