NJ Middle School Teacher Charged With Sex Assault Of Student
Her classroom and car hosted the encounters, authorities said.
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A former middle school teacher at Orchard Valley Middle School was arrested on Thursday and charged with sexual assault of a minor, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said.
Ashley A. Fisler, 36 of Washington Township, was charged with six counts of first-degree sexual assault of a minor, one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of second-degree official misconduct.
On Jan. 23, the now-adult victim revealed the sexual relationship with Fisler that occurred in 2021 when they were still a minor and Fisler was their teacher.

The sexual encounters happened in her car and in her classroom.
Later evidence also showed text messages between Fisler and the teen that confirmed the sexual nature of their relationship, authorities added.

Fisler is no longer employed as a teacher within Washington Township or anywhere else.
She faces a maximum of 20 years in state prison for each of the first-degree charges and a maximum of 10 years for each of the second-degree charges.
Superintendent Dr. Eric Hibbs shared the following statement with Patch on behalf of the district:
The district is aware of the charges announced by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office regarding a former middle school teacher. We take matters involving the safety and well-being of our students extremely seriously.
The individual referenced is no longer employed by the district and separated from employment in April 2023. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and will continue to do so.
Because this is an active criminal matter, we are unable to comment further at this time.
