Grab and Go Family Planner: Bieber Fever Vs. Phillies Phever

We are officially into the second week of fall–find out some of the best spots in the area to bring your kids this weekend and celebrate this festive time of year.

9th Annual Collingswood Book Festival

  • Where/When: Along Haddon Avenue in downtown Collingswood, NJ. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1.
  • What's Going On: Book lovers of all ages have enjoyed this tradition every year in Collingswood, and now you can too. Check out six blocks worth of book displays, sales, poetry readings, storytelling, workshops, a "kids zone", and nationally recognized authors of both kids and adult books.
  • Pricing: Admission is free

The Sixth Annual Egyptian Festival

  • Where/When: Saint Anthony Coptic Orthodox Church–267 Hartford Rd., Medford, NJ. 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30. 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2.
  • What's Going On: Check out amazing Egyptian foods in Nefertiti's Kitchen, papyrus pictures and Egyptian crafts at Ramses Bazaar, moon bounce and face painting at King Tut's Kid's Corner and much more at this carnival of Egyptian culture! There will also be other Egyptian products for sale at the Isis Grocery Store and Saint Anthony's Bookstore.

Phillies Phan Night

  • Where/When: Voorhees Town Center–1285 Echelon Mall Dr., Voorhees, NJ. 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30.
  • What's Going On: Join in on this family friendly celebration of our Phighting Phillies! There will be live music, face painting, games, and appearances from Phillies players Michael Stutes and John Mayberry, Jr.
  • Pricing: Admission is free. 

Philadelphia Shell Show and Festival

  • Where/When: The Academy of Natural Sciences–1900 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy., Philadelphia, PA. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2.
  • What's Going On: Take tours of The Academy of Natural Science's Malacology collection of over 10 million shells. See shells from all over the world- some bigger than your arm! Talk to real live shell experts and watch professional and amateurs compete for the prize of best shell display.
  • Pricing: free with cost of regular admission: $12 for anyone age 13 and above, $10 for children ages 3 through twelve and for seniors over 65. 

Bieber Fever: Guitar Crafts and Trivia Fun

  • Where/When: Voorhees Public Library–203 Laurel Rd., Voorhees, NJ. Public Meeting Room A. 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 1.
  • What's Going On: Attention all Bieber fans! Come on out to this event to make and decorate a play guitar while listening to the teen pop sensation Justin "The Beeb" Bieber. And later you can play an all-Bieber trivia game.
