South Jersey is definitely the place to be this weekend! Check out four events in South Jersey (and one in Northern Delaware) that you and the whole family can enjoy.
Deptford Day
- Where/When: Cooper Street and Arline Avenue, Deptford. Noon on Saturday, May 21.
- What’s Going On: Enjoy the music and merriment of this annual event. Follow the opening parade all the way down to the rear entrance of Fasola Park where there will be amusements, vendor and entertainment galore! Vote for your favorite Little Mister and Little Miss Deptford Day and check out Crafter’s Lane!
- Pricing: Free

- Where/When: Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge–4 Saw Mill Rd., Medford, NJ. 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 14.
- What’s Going On: See what creatures really come to life as the sun goes down! Venture through the refuge with the Refuge’s naturalist and hear and see what frogs are calling out into the night.
- Pricing: $10 for adults and $5 for children
South Jersey Ballet Theatre Presents Swan Lake
- Where/When: Voorhees Middle School–1000 Holly Oak Dr., Voorhees, NJ. 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13; 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 and 2:30 on Sunday, May 15.
- What’s Going On: Witness the talent of the area’s young ballet dancers as South Jersey Ballet Theatre presents Swan Lake at Voorhees Middle School. This production will feature 16-year-old Morgan McGoey along with a cavalcade of young performers and a handful of professional guest artists.
- Pricing: $18 for admission, seniors 62 and older—$15, children 12 and under—$12

- Where/When: World Café Live at The Queen–500 North Market St., Wilmington, DE. 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14.
- What’s Going On: New York based pop/soul singer brings her gift of music to the world of children! Currently a teacher at four Manhattan schools, Joanie has written a series of original songs inspired by her students. But let’s not forget the family-friendly cover songs such as “Our House,” “You Are My Sunshine,” “Happy Song” and many more!
- Pricing: $10 for adults, $7 for kids ages 7-12.
Swedesboro Outdoor Living & Garden Show
- Where/When: Kings Highway between Church and Franklin Streets Swedesboro, NJ 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 14.
- What’s Going On: Get outside for this fun-for-the-whole-family event! Let the kids let loose by decorating a bird feeder, participating in a street chalk contest, or check out the Philadelphia Zoo on wheels. Professional sand castle sculptor and artist John Gruber will be creating a sculpture on the spot and interacting with the audience. There will also be master gardener exhibits and wine tasting for the adults.
