Grant Helps Gloucester County Help About 10,000 Of Its Residents

Part of the funding will help those who are deaf and hard of hearing who need county services, according to a news release.

WOODBURY, NJ — By the end of this month, Gloucester County expects to have fully deployed grant-funded equipment that will assist the county in assisting its nearly 10,000 residents who are deaf and hard-of-hearing, the county said.

The $75,000 grant will cover the cost of putting hearing induction loops for the Ceremonial Room of the County Courthouse, under-the-counter components for the Surrogate and County Clerk’s Offices, a portable countertop unit for one-to-one conversations for the County Store, a public videophone system for the Surrogate’s Office and putting hearing induction loops at B’nai Tikvah Beth Israel's Washington Township sanctuary.

"This equipment will make a lasting impact on our county and allow us to remove any communication barriers that prevents us from assisting our deaf and hard of hearing Gloucester County residents," said Gloucester County Commissioner Jim Jefferson.
