West Deptford Little League Pushed Back By Heat

League officials juggled the schedule to push as many games to Friday night as possible.

With the heat index pushing toward 110 or higher, tonight's 10-11 all-star game between National Park and West Deptford at the Deptford Little League complex has been moved back two hours to an 8 p.m. start.

League officials juggled the schedule Friday morning to avoid playing in the worst part of the heat wave, shifting as many games back to an 8 p.m. start as possible and pushing others to the weekend.

The Major squad will also play at 8 p.m. down in Northfield against Cherry Hill American, with a shot at a rematch against Erial in the championship game on the line.

West Deptford's Senior League all-stars, who were originally scheduled to take the field against South Harrison at 8 p.m., will now get a free pass into the elimination round after South Harrison forfeited.

The Senior Leaguers will face the second-place team in the opposing pool on Wednesday at West Deptford, though that opponent might not be determined until Monday night.
