Man Charged With Arson After Multi-Family Home Catches Fire In South Jersey

WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ — A man was charged with arson after setting fire to a multi-family Williamstown home on Thursday, authorities said.

Tobin N. Watson also stole from a nearby business, according to the Monroe Township Police Department.

Authorities rushed to the working fire at about 5:15 a.m. Thursday on 425 S Main St. The fire marshal deemed it suspicious.

Shortly after, authorities identified Watson as the arson suspect and also linked him to a nearby theft. Police found him at 8:15 a.m. that day.

It's unclear whether authorities have established a motive, or when the alleged theft occurred. Police are not releasing any more information at this time, Chief Ryan S. Borkowski told Patch on Friday.

Watson, 32, of Bellmawr, was charged with arson and theft. He was placed in Salem County Jail, which also serves Gloucester County.
