Man Killed In Crash After Running Stop Sign In South Jersey: Police

Another person was injured in the collision between two pickup trucks, authorities said.

VINELAND, NJ — A man died in a crash after running a stop sign Thursday in Cumberland County, authorities said.

The driver — Calvin B. Harrje, 70, of Deptford — was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision involving two pickup trucks in Vineland.

It happened around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Hance Bridge Road and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Harrje "failed to stop/yield" at the stop sign while traveling eastbound on Pennsylvania Avenue, according to the Vineland Police Department. His vehicle was then struck by a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was traveling north on Hance Bridge Road, police said.

The Dodge driver was brought to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no charges were filed as of late Monday morning.
