NJ Building Explosion Response Captured On Bodycam Footage

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — Bodycam footage released recently by law enforcement shows the moments during and after the building explosion at a cocoa butter processing facility last month.

At 2:36 p.m. on March 5, an industrial accident and explosion occurred at Savita Naturals, a commercial plant on Heron Drive that processes ingredients for the chocolate industry.

At least eight people were injured in the blasts, including four employees of the facility who were brought to regional trauma and burn centers, authorities said.

"Do you have any idea what happened?" an officer can be heard asking a driver of a pickup truck on scene.

"No, I work across the street," the man replied when he arrived back from helping transport a victim to first responders on Heron Drive.

Officers searched for survivors in the nearby lots of land as the blasts continued in the background.

"There's a guy injured in the woods behind the building!" a man tells officers as they are canvassing the area.

Multiple reports of property damage came in following the fire from buildings as far as one mile from Savita Naturals.

"Is that another one?" an officer asks another before having his question answered in confirmation on police radio.

Air quality monitoring continued in the days following the blasts over concerns of hazardous materials.

The cause of the explosion is yet to be released.
